As a student I was intelligent on paper but did not put my best foot forward in areas that were imperative to my future. I lived in the moment, lacked drive, and did not think about the 'big picture'. As a parent I pull from the not so pleasant parts of my life journey so that I can give my children a positive and rewarding childhood. As an adult I often wonder how did things in my life get so twisted and out of order? Why did things workout this way and not the way I had envisioned? A simple phrase explains it all... I was a lack luster individual!
I could blame everyone and everything but truth is I can't. I blame it on my mindset during that time. I was responsible for my actions and shortcomings. When I was in school I chose to half step when I should have leaped. Now that I am more mature and have a family of my own I am connecting the dots of my life so that my children do not follow a similar path.
If I knew then what I know now is a literary mentorship; a blueprint, to educate students on how to get the most out of education and to assist parents with guiding their children on the road to academic success. It covers the students' journey from elementary school to post high school listing vital information from responsibility to setting goals to budgeting . When it comes to children, this book unofficially coaches the parent on an array of subject matters ranging from the best learning strategies for the little ones to types of encouragement to the importance of support during test time for school-aged individuals. There are also links to amazing information and some inclusions to assist with organizing and prioritizing.
I can't walk in anyone's shoes, however I can help someone not to walk in mines.

I started this book out not knowing if it would help or apply to me. I do not have children, but I purchased it after coming to the realization that I want more out of life. This book concentrates not only on education, but life in general. It gives great pointers and encouragement to get out of any rut. There are even materials at the end to help with financial planning and other things. Highly recommended!!Product details

As I'm reading this book...the author Kia has a great outlook and perspective on the expectation of life and all that it has to give. The knowledge of growth that she has expressed throughout her educational and parental experience as well as her faith in God has shown her to be well rounded to adult discussions plus the importance of a role model parent and an educator of diversity.
This book is informative for new parents preparing first time students, parents needing a little direction moving to the middle school students and finally the high schooler who does not want the parents around. We still have insight on which way our students should be going. Great job!!!!!!
